Aqueous solution of amine is a mature technology to selectively absorb CO2 from an industrial exhaust. Monoethanolamine (MEA) still considered as the reference and unfortunately, energy necessary desorb recycle solvent limiting its use at scale. The main cost process needed heat over 100 °C CO2. Several options decrease this expense have been including phase separation reduce volumes be treated. It was then proposed aqueous exhibiting lower critical temperature (LCST) adequate temperature. However, it challenging found able large quantity having LCST suitable Deep eutectic (DES) composed oleic acid (hydrophobic) lidocaine (amphiphilic) can separated water with either or stimuli.
